TRINNY WOODALL

“Throughout my life, I have encountered fear and I know how much it has stopped me in my tracks. I felt like I had to write FEARLESS because as someone who has spent much of my career trying to help women feel good about themselves, I want all women to feel empowered at every stage of their lives.

The feeling of fear is how you find confidence and joy, it’s about having faith in yourself and how you can keep moving forward. I want to remind everyone that you never know what is behind the closed door, it might be even more glorious.”

Trinny Woodall, British Business Woman & Founder of Trinny London

“This month’s Hotlister is Trinny Woodall, Founder and CEO of Trinny London, the makeup & skincare brand. Trinny will release FEARLESS. This much anticipated guide will be the go-to for all women, Trinny shows us how we can all thrive and live fearlessly everyday. I have had a preview of the book and can assure you that the advice is honest, authentic and will challenge to you to think about what fearlessness means to you. The feeling of fear to me is #JFDI.”

Food: GrassFed

GrassFed Restaurant is the newest addition to the food scene in Camden, brought by the Michelin-starred chef Paul Foster, and dedicated to serving the highest quality British and Irish grass-fed beef. They believe that food should not only taste amazing, but it should also be good for you and the planet. That's why they source all their beef from sustainable farms that prioritise animal welfare and the environment. The menu features a variety of cuts and dishes, from juicy steaks to beefy hotdogs, all made with the finest locally sourced ingredients and cooked to perfection. For example, Beef Snag, a beef hotdog with truffle mayonnaise, crispy onions and pickled onions or Beef rib on the bone to share, with a choice of Cotswold Sobrasada and Stichelton blue cheese. Drool fest. If beef ain't your thing then they also do an incredible BBQ dayboat fish with smoked seaweed butter.  Foster’s plan is to showcase quality British-sourced meat and to raise awareness about regenerative farming, which results in nutritious crops, healthier animals and land. Decor wise, guests are split across two floors with both counter dining and some canal side seating.

Art: Frieze Sculpture 2023

Curated by Fatoş Üstek for the first time, Frieze Sculpture returns to Regent’s Park from 20th September to the 29th October. Hurrah! This year's event features 22 leading international artists whose works will be situated throughout Regent’s Park’s historic English Gardens. Some are exhibiting major works in the public realm for the first time, and others are young practitioners who are pushing boundaries. Comprising site-responsive and site-specific projects, Frieze Sculpture addresses how the medium can be both monumental and ephemeral. This year’s edition highlights new and existing works, and the breadth of sculptural methods employed by artists working today. Spanning conceptual, experiential, humorous and imaginative approaches, the artworks are linked by ideas of transformation, political empowerment, contemporary rituals and social imaginary. Extending further across the English Gardens, Frieze Sculpture invites visitors to explore the artistic rigour and ambition of this year’s participants. The display will be accompanied by a public programme of live activations and tours, as well as a free audio guide narrated by Üstek and available from frieze.com.  Fatoş Üstek said: ‘I am excited to invite Londoners and international visitors to partake in a new vision for sculpture this autumn. This year's Frieze Sculpture brings together a wide breadth of artistic practices from across the world.’

Exhibition: The Missing Thread

This autumn, Somerset House explores the stories of Black British fashion in a major new exhibition, The Missing Thread, curated by the Black Oriented Legacy Development Agency (BOLD). Spanning from the 1970s to the present day, The Missing Thread charts the shifting landscape of Black British culture and the unique contribution it has made to Britain’s rich design history. The exhibition will examine how the cultural, counter-cultural, political and socio-economic backdrop of the 20th and 21st centuries have shaped the identity of Black style and in turn mainstream fashion culture. Extending far beyond the realm of the catwalk, the exhibition spotlights and contextualises the profound impact of Black creativity through music, photography, art and design. The exhibition will tell the story of Black creativity through four distinct themes - home, tailoring, performance and nightlife - each referencing the spaces which inspired and allowed the culture of Black British fashion and design to develop on its own terms. The Missing Thread will also spotlight the genius of one of Britain's most influential Black fashion designers, the late Joe Casely-Hayford, presenting the designer’s archive in an exhibition format for the first time in the UK. Finally, a series of original commissions by contemporary Black designers, including Nicholas Daley, Bianca Saunders, Martine Rose and Saul Nash, will celebrate the generational lineage of Black creative excellence in British fashion.

Charity of the Month: World Heart Day

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the world’s number one killer. Combined, conditions affecting the heart or blood vessels – such as heart attack, stroke and heart failure – kill more than 20.5 million every year. The majority of these deaths happen in low- and middle-income countries. World Heart Day want to bring this number down – way down. And there’s hope: 80% of premature deaths from CVD are preventable. By making small changes to our lifestyle – what we eat and drink, how much we exercise, and how we manage stress – we can better manage our heart health and beat CVD. World Heart Day is a global, multi-lingual celebration spanning six continents. Every year groups and individuals bring their local flair, favour and colours to festivities, marking the day by sharing heart healthy regional specialties, leading a dance to get the whole community moving, and sharing life-saving lessons far and wide. To get involved and spread healthy heart info then check out the resources page on their website
