More about Access Aspiration

Halpern has been supporting diversity for many years. We have always believed in the power of community and networks to drive change.

Jenny Halpern Prince, our CEO, set up Access Aspiration in 2012 to increase social mobility in London due to the diversity bias in companies.

“When I had just left school, I had the advantage of many connections through my family so I was very lucky to have the opportunity of many varied work placements in big-name businesses. In the agency, I established at 24, I identified it wasn’t the natural route that many students from diverse backgrounds where applying for, so I decided early on that I really needed some avenue in my life where I could give back. My passion at the time and to this day was to help give people a chance to enter career fields that they wouldn’t ordinarily have the opportunity to gain access to. The mission here is to give kids across London equal access to aspirational companies like the Bank of England, Barts Cancer Institute, EE and so many more – hence ‘Access Aspiration’. I am proud of what we have achieved so far but there is so much more we all can do and there is no better time than now to champion this movement.”Jenny Halpern Prince, Founder of Access Aspiration and Founder of Halpern

Access Aspiration ensures students in State schools have employability skills through work placements, interview training and networking opportunities that take place in many of the leading businesses in London.

Together with The Mayor’s Fund for London, our efforts are focused on three key areas:

·        Wellbeing: supporting children to be happy, healthy and motivated to learn;

·        Skills: helping young Londoners to stay on track at school; and

·        Employment and enterprise: increasing awareness of opportunities, preparation for the world of work, and providing better access to employers.

Our work raises awareness of the barriers facing young Londoners, promotes the activities which best increases their opportunities, and brings together the partnerships to make a measurable impact on young Londoners’ lives.

We have over 35,000 young Londoners aged 4-24 across all 33 boroughs working in partnership with 721 schools, 110 community organizations and 195 employers, 173 volunteers, charities, social enterprises, and local authorities.
